A meeting with matter
In 2020, architect Kajsa Melchior visited the Luce di Carrara showroom and was captivated by Rosso Luana, a marble with vibrant colors and dynamic veining. Although it wasn’t suitable for the ongoing project, it left a lasting impression. Years later, a client requested a stone island as the centerpiece of the kitchen, and Melchior presented two options: a refined stone or the striking Rosso Luana. The client chose the latter, and the entire project was built around this focal point, resulting in a bold and elegant space.
The beauty of collaboration
Collaborating with those who understand and respect the material, as Melchior does, makes everything simpler and more meaningful. Being able to return to the quarry, see the stones up close, and work with people who share the same passion is a privilege. For the architect, stone is never just a building material: it is a medium to tell a story, a tangible connection between human craftsmanship and nature.
A work that combines elegance and refinement
In the living room, the Calacatta Oro fireplace is the undisputed centerpiece: its golden and gray veining stands out against the immaculate surface, adding elegance and refinement to the space. The bathroom, entirely crafted in travertine, embodies a natural yet sophisticated beauty. The warm, earthy tones of the travertine, with its organic veining, cover the surfaces, creating an enveloping and relaxing atmosphere.
The elegance of craftmanship
From the first trip to Sweden for the surveys to the meticulous process of selecting and laying the stones, every phase was approached with rare care and passion. Melchior admires the dedication of our team, who approach each marble block with almost reverential respect, transforming the material into art. Every element of the project integrates harmoniously: the marble, with its majestic presence, converses with equally authentic materials like wood, creating a dynamic interplay of contrasts and harmonies that celebrates the natural beauty of the material.
In the bedroom, travertine and Calacatta Oro meet gracefully, giving life to a space of tranquility and warmth. The kitchen, with its island in Rosso Luana, is a vibrant explosion of energy and vitality. Each room reflects the architect’s skill in harmonizing opposing elements, turning the space into a unique sensory experience where form and function merge in perfect synergy.
