Laura Andreini, Marco Casamonti, and Giovanni Polazzi, graduates of the Faculty of Architecture in Florence, founded Studio Archea in 1988. As the practice expanded, Archea Associati was established in 2001 with the addition of Silvia Fabi.

Over the years, the firm has completed numerous international projects and opened offices in China, the United Arab Emirates, Brazil, and Albania.Its activity focuses on architectural design across multiple scales – from objects to buildings and urban planning, complemented by a strong commitment to research and teaching. Marco Casamonti is Full Professor of Architectural and Urban Design at the University of Genoa, while Laura Andreini is Associate Professor at the University of Florence. Both are actively involved in publications, exhibitions, and international conferences. Since 1997, Casamonti has been the editor-in-chief of the architecture magazine Area, with Andreini serving as deputy editor since 2002. Since 2009, Laura Andreini has also been editorial director of Forma Edizioni, a publishing house specializing architecture and design.

The firm has participated in numerous international competitions, earning significant recognition. Among its main projects are the Antinori Winery in Chianti Classico, the Air Albania Stadium, the Central Market of Florence, the Alban Tower in Tirana, and the Viola Park sports complex in Florence, completed in 2024. Current projects under development include the New Thermal Wellness Center in Ponte di Legno, the Tirana International Airport, and the Butterfly Office Building in Taipe
